SLAM Italian 49er Team Wins European Championship
Croatia: great performance of the Italians Gianfranco and Pietro Sibello at the 49er Europeans which took place in Zara. A gold which follows the bronze of the Worlds in Riva, and confirms the excellent form of the Ligurian brothers. Another prestigious podium for the Italian Sailing Federation and for SLAM.
Pietro and Gianfranco Sibello from Italy are the new 49er European champions! Silver medal goes to Paul Brotheron and Mark Asquith from Great Britan and bronze to the Austrian team Nico Delle Karth and Nikolaus Resch. After the 17th race for gold and silver fleet in 16 knots of shifty northern breeze the top ten teams were decided. The medal race was sailed just in front of the club, the upwind mark was just some 10 meters from the shore, so many spectators were able to follow the race. Dear sailors, we loved having you here, we all hope that we will see you again in Zadar! Have a safe trip home.
